Central Catholic High School graduate and Purdue senior Hayden Gloyeske opted for the learning experience with heart. He’s spending 64 days of his summer bicycling from Seattle to Washington, D.C., as one of 100 Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity members from several universities.
Students raised funds for the fraternity-founded organization, Push America, to support programs for people with disabilities, then began pedaling to raise awareness for and make friendship visits with people with disabilities along the route.
The trip appealed to Gloyeske from the minute he heard about it. “These guys have a purpose. They serve others,” he said of the fraternity’s event. “I knew I wanted to be part of it.”
