Perry Truong, Iota Psi (Boise State), Creates Lasting Relationship with Special Olympics

Perry Truong, Iota Psi (Boise State), is a senior graduating Magna Cum Laude this upcoming May with a degree in Marketing and two certificates, Leadership & Human Relations and Dispute Resolution.

He has been involved with the Special Olympics College (Affiliated with Special Olympics and Special Olympics Idaho) for his entire university experience and currently serve as its Vice President.

For the past two years, Perry had the privilege to plan, coordinate, and execute three Young Athletes Programs (YAP). Young Athletes is a semi-yearly program where elementary students in the Boise area are invited to come to Boise State University and engage in intentional recreation programming. They work with athletes aged 2-7, building their fine and gross motor skills.

The most recent YAP took place on November 17, 2016. 18 athletes were in attendance and they all had outstanding comments about the program. One athlete, named Suzie, ran over to Truong after the program, hugged him, and said “Thank you for doing everything.” It’s moments like these that Perry holds precious to his heart and the reason why he always continues to work with people of all abilities.
