Evan Austin

Development Officer

As the Development Officer for The Ability Experience, Evan is responsible for sharing the mission of the organization with current and potential donors and for creating meaningful connections with our partners to help the growth of our foundation. These partnerships help fund and progress the work that we do to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Evan’s exchanges with donors allow for collaboration in fundraising options, payment plans, and provide an opportunity to update donors with The Ability Experience’s current projects and future events.

Evan is a graduate of Indiana State University with a degree in Recreation and Sport Management. He was initiated as a brother of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at the Eta Beta Chapter in the Spring of 2012. Evan is a 3-time Paralympic Swimmer for Team USA. He competed in the London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. He was Team Captain in Tokyo where he also became a Gold and Bronze Medalist!

Evan was born with Familial Spastic Paraparesis, a genetic neurological disorder that affects the function and use of his legs. He knows what it is like to have to overcome unique adversities and challenges that come with having a physical disability. He joins our staff with a personal perspective of how the work of The Ability Experience can help benefit the lives of people with disabilities and is excited to do his part in helping our mission grow!
