Sarah Wagner

Director of Donor Engagement

Sarah is the Director of Donor Engagement for The Ability Experience, which means she develops relationships and forges trust with the organization’s committed supporters. She oversees the growth and development of all of the organization’s annual giving programs and works hard to elevate the donor experience. A big part of what she loves about her job is the storytelling. She loves to engage, inspire, and work directly with donors to learn their why. Why they give, why they volunteer, why they mentor, why they’re dedicated to servant leadership … and the list goes on.

Sarah rejoined the Ability Staff in 2019 after serving as the Donor Engagement Manager for Thompson, a family services organization based in Charlotte, NC. When she was previously on staff, she was the Director of Annual Giving for the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation and Ability Experience for three years.

A graduate from UNC Wilmington, Sarah lives in Matthews, NC with her husband Nick and their two children, Adam and Josephine. Sarah is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Gift School through the Institute of Philanthropic Leadership and is a member of The Association of Fundraising Professionals Charlotte Chapter.

In her spare time, Sarah loves traveling, reading with her kiddos, playing the piano, and hiking and exploring the outdoors. She collects postcards from around the world (making mail art) and is very crafty.
