Since 1997 many Pi Kappa Phi members have accepted the Gear Up Florida challenge to bike hundreds of miles throughout the Sunshine State to raise money for people with disabilities.

Today we started with an early morning wake up in Orlando at 5:30 a.m.

Twenty-one cyclists with the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity pedaled into the parking lot of the Disability Achievement Center, 12552 Belcher Road S. in Largo, May 13, making a stop in the group's 16-day, 800-mile trek across Florida.

Almost 100 members of Special Populations, cheering and holding handmade signs, welcomed 21 bicyclists Monday afternoon at the Sun Splash Family Waterpark pavilion.

The Gear Up Florida team made it to Gainesville, Florida, on Wednesday, May 20 and are three days out from finishing their 865 mile journey from Miami to Tallahasse.
