Pi Kappa Phi created The Ability Experience in 1977 to instill a sense of service in each of its young leaders. There are currently over 155 chapters of Pi Kappa Phi across 39 states (including the District of Columbia) with more than 11,000 undergraduates and 80,000 living alumni.

Each year, chapters of Pi Kappa Phi hold events on their campus and in their community to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities. Chapters raise $750,000 annually for The Ability Experience and dedicate thousands of hours of service to organizations that serve people with disabilities in their communities.

The Ability Experience provides opportunities for all members of Pi Kappa Phi, beginning with pre-initiation into the Fraternity, to have a rewarding, personal service experience that not only impacts the lives of people with disabilities, but also impacts them as well.

Many alumni still take an active role in The Ability Experience programs and continue to show their passion for service. Even nonmembers are getting involved with chapters by serving as The Ability Experience advisors, assisting with the planning and execution of events, getting chapters in contact with local businesses who may be interested in supporting them or helping to facilitate volunteer opportunities in the community.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved with a local chapter of Pi Kappa Phi, please contact The Ability Experience chapter services team via email.
