The Ability Experience is the philanthropic initiative of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity that remains, to this day, an unparalleled success in the Greek world. Founded in 1977, we strive to instill a passion for lifelong service in our fraternity members while helping to empower people living with disabilities.

Developing Servant Leaders
True leaders empower others — and learn through experience. As the only national fraternity to establish and maintain its own non-profit organization, we pride ourselves in taking the lead when we see a need and have set the fraternal standard for hands-on, service-based leadership training. Through The Ability Experience you are taught how to be an effective leader and work better as a team. And you learn that it really is far greater to give than receive.Learn More
With over 150 chapters fundraising a total of more than $600,000 annually for The Ability Experience, Pi Kappa Phi truly excels beyond all other fraternities in philanthropic fundraising.
Creative fundraising events like bike-a-thons, Pie A Pi Kapp and others have helped the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi collectively fundraise over $15 million in support of The Ability Experience’s programs. These funds are distributed across the country to benefit people with disabilities and provide more service opportunities for the men of Pi Kappa Phi.Raise More
Disability doesn’t mean ‘inability’. There’s no better way to learn about people with disabilities than through direct interaction. The Ability Experience strives to educate the men of Pi Kappa Phi by creating shared experiences between them and people with disabilities. Through these firsthand interactions, we are able to see the abilities in all people. While people with disabilities often have to do things a little differently, they have the ability to have jobs, play sports and join fraternities just like everyone else. The shared experiences created by our chapters help break down some of the stereotypes on campus and in their communities.
Chapters of Pi Kappa Phi also host events on campus to help bring awareness to various national and global disability-centered campaigns like Spread the Word.
The spirit of The Ability Experience is carried on by volunteer relationships between chapters of Pi Kappa Phi and organizations serving people with disabilities. Establishing this relationship is a great way for chapters to give back to the community, discover the many abilities of people with disabilities, and introduce new people to what Pi Kappa Phi is doing through The Ability Experience.
Volunteer relationship activities include anything from bowling, holiday parties, lending a hand to fix things around their facilities or even being part of a buddy program with someone with a disability. The possibilities are endless with both the chapter members and people with disabilities benefiting from the experience.
Members of Pi Kappa Phi also have opportunities to participate in various national events, serving our friends with disabilities in communities across the country.Get Involved
