7/9/19 JOH South

Today our team had an early 5 AM wake up to start our ride into Abilene, Texas. After a hot day on the road we finally arrived at lodging, 95 miles later. We were staying at the Zion Lutheran Church that night, which was accompanied by a basketball court for us to play on. Around 6, we headed over to Perini Ranch Steakhouse for dinner. We were overwhelmed by the delicious and plentiful southern food that we are provided with. We were served jalapeño poppers, catfish, and much more. For many of us, it was our first time eating catfish, and most were very pleased. The dinner ended with a delicious banana pudding to fill up our already full stomachs. After dinner we were introduced to “Barbadilla,” a 20 foot metal armadillo that resides on the ranch. The owner told us the long story about how it made its way around the globe and ended up where it is today
