Today the team road from Chicago to South Bend. We had an early wake up at 5 am to make sure we could beat the rush hour traffic to leave the city safely. The morning started off with us thanking our wonderful sponsors at the Harbor point condominums, eating a quick breakfast in the parking lot, then heading to go get the bikes. The team started the ride from the Envision Unlimited Westside center on the northwest side of town, which meant they got to ride through downtown back to millenium park where they started the lakeside bicycle trail. After the beautiful ride on the bike path, it was time to get back on the road to head through Gary, Indiana on the way to a lunch on the beach at Indiana Dunes State Park. Ian Rubin treated the team to lunch as well as a friendship visit with Chasing Dreams. The team got to enjoy a their time at the beach before we had to get back on the road. After a quick ride to South Bend, we had dinner with the Knights of Columbus. They served us what seemed like endless spagheti and I could tell the team really enjoyed it! Afterwards, one of the Knights took the team on a tour of Notre Dame capmus, taking us by the touchdown Jesus. Then we ended the night back at lodging in the Holy Cross School where we all got our own beds. It was quite an eventful day but definitely a memorable one! Looking forward to crossing the Michigan border tomorrow and see what else is in store for us.
