June 19, 2017 – Pahrump to Las Vegas – 70 miles

After a tough day of riding through Death Valley, we all woke up at 4:30 AM to begin our exciting 70 mile ride into Pahrump to Las Vegas. Luckily, the morning was relatively cool as we ascended around 3000 feet for nearly three hours to the top of one of Red Rock Canyon’s summits. We peaked at 5400ft of elevation and descended down. We sped down one of the most gorgeous descents I have seen on this trip and reached exciting speeds making the rough climb totally worth it. My pace line was amped after as we continued to trek through the valley in the middle of Red Rock Canyon.

Once we arrived in Las Vegas, we were greeted by a bunch of excited kids at the City of Las Vegas Adaptive Recreation summer camp, met the mayor, and got our butts kicked in wheel chair basket ball. The mayor gave and inspiring speech and declared June 18, 2017 to be Ability Experience Day for the coty of Las Vegas. Later that evening, we went bowling with the City of Las Vegas Adaptive Recreation summer camp and shared dinner with them.

Today was definitely an experience as the team got to ride into Las Vegas and participate in two friendship visits!
