June 24, 2017 – Lake Havasu, Az to Parker, AZ – 40 miles

Today, we had a short 40 mile ride. We were fortunate enough to have our breakfast sponsored by the Lake Havasu Knights of Columbus who made sure we were ready for the day’s ride serving pancakes and sausage to the team. After breakfast we made our way out of Havasu toward Parker.

It’s been very exciting to see us all become more conditioned to the heat. While we did not have a friendship visit today it only makes me look forward even more to the next.

The day ended with a trip to the Buckskin Fire Department where some of the team cooled off in the Colorado River and everyone enjoyed grilled hot dogs and hamburgers provided by the firemen there.

Tomorrow we have the  challenge of our first official century ride. This will be a huge test for myself and our team but I believe that every member will be able to complete this ride. It’s incredible how close you can grow with people that you barely knew a week ago, long rides and sleeping on gym floors definitely help build those bonds. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the journey holds!
