On Sunday, July 16 we had a much needed and deserved rest day. We all slept in until about 9 AM, when we woke up and had our standard crew chief breakfast consisting of a bagel with peanut butter, a small amount of cereal, and a banana. After that, we all went out to take care of various errands. I went to a local Des Moines bike shop called Bike World to get a few maintenance items and some fresh tubes. While we were at the bike shop, we happened to run into a Pi Alpha that had been a crew member on the South route some time ago. We then went to Chipotle, which many of us were craving since there have been only a few along the route. After lunch we returned to lodging for some down time, and we ended up playing pick-up basketball for a few hours and then taking naps. We then woke up and went to a great dinner. After dinner, we all took the crew vans to get washed and returned to lodging to watch the Season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones. Overall, we had a very relaxing day with all the route members.

It is amazing how quickly this trip has been flying by. With less than a month left, it is incredible how close we all have gotten to one another, how good we all have gotten at cycling, and most importantly the amazing impact that we have made on so many lives. I’m looking forward to the remainder of the trip and continuing the excellent journey on which we have embarked.
