Today was our last day of work at Akron Rotary Camp. Even with the odds of bad weather against us, we kicked off the morning hard and got straight to work at 7AM. After working the past two days, everyone knew exactly how to get started and where to go. We got some good work done and went into the dining hall for breakfast. After breakfast we got straight back to work and were very lucky as only a few pop-up rain showers occurred on a day with all day thunderstorms forecast. We continued to work until around 4:30; then we packed up all of our tools, cleaned our worksite, and got a final look at all the work we had completed. Even though we didn’t finish, I was very proud of the work we completed in just three days. After some pictures, we went into the cabin to shower and get ready for the beach party and cookout dinner. I was nervous for this part, because this was also going to be my first check presentation for our first camp of the summer. However, it went very well, I didn’t choke on my words, and it was a surreal feeling providing the camp with $5,000. After the dinner we had some free time and got ice cream with Dan, the camp director, and his wife. Overall it was a really great week, the team made a lot of good memories with each other, the camp, and most importantly the campers. I am looking forward to our next camp, and ready for another amazing week with this team.
