8-Aug-17

August 8, 2017 – Danville, VA to FarmVille, VA – 95 miles

Today was a glorious day. Usually Tuesday’s aren’t my days but this one was amazing. We had an amazing breakfast at Chic-fil-A sponsored by the New Life Community Church. The boys were crushing it the whole day and made it a mission to get through the ride quickly.

After the ride we had a chance to settle in at our lodging at the Hilton House Hotel sponsored by Teresa Toombs. It was a beautiful place to stay and the team was thankful to be in another hotel (our last of the journey).

Our dinner was spectacular as we got to spend time with the clients of the Hilton House. The Hilton House is a local organization that helps differently abled people live independently by emphasizing their abilities. Meeting some of the clients and learning about their abilities was awesome. Hearing how much the employees loved working there was inspiring and reassuring as I am a disabilities studies major and hope to work in a similar field. Farmville treated us well and we can’t thank Mrs. Toombs enough for coordinating this amazing meal and our lodging. I will not forget my time in Farmville anytime soon.
