Day 6: Carson City NV, June 14th 2019

Day 6! First off Happy Birthday to one of our cyclists Chase Rogers!! We all started with a great breakfast from our crew chief, Antonio and then had a beautiful 35 mile ride into Carson City, Nevada. We officially passed our first state line at about mile 15, and we were able to make it to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada for a quick visit. We had an amazing lunch that really reminded me of my early school days, spaghetti and meatballs, a side salad, and of course Tru Moo chocolate milk. After our lunch, we took to recess with the children, which included plenty of foot races, four square, and tetherball. I was beaten in all of the above (playground sports were never my strong suit). After a well spent afternoon here, we went to Western Nevada College to take part in a disability awareness event which included local organizations and vendors that support those with disabilities. This was especially sweet because they were able to show us how they help advocate for the same cause we are cycling for. Once back to lodging we celebrated Chase’s birthday with a van squad basketball tournament. My squad was the true underdog team, but we were still able to make it all the way to the finals to lose in a close game to squad 5, but still an amazing performance by my team. Cannot wait to see what tomorrow holds
