Gear Up Florida raises over $88,000 for people with disabilities

Thirty-three fraternity men and five from the Beta Iota Chapter (Toledo) traveled to Miami, Florida to trek 800 miles to Tallahassee, Florida.

“Getting them from city to city safely was my main priority,” said Sam Reihs, an UT student. Pi Kappa Phi men vow to spread a message of acceptance on this trip along with raising money for people with disabilities.

“We all worked together to fundraise a lot of money for all the places that we visited,” added Reihs.

Christian Nopper and Reihs said they met kids who’ve faced challenges many adults haven’t experienced. The bikers ended their journey in Tallahassee with new friendships and a lesson to tell all.

“Seeing all of the people clap and cheer and have the police escort was probably the greatest things I have experienced,” said Nopper.
