Escamilla named student representative to The Ability Experience board of directors

We are excited to announce that Jackson Escamilla will serve as the student representative on The Ability Experience board of directors. His passion for empowering people with disabilities comes from growing up with his twin brother, who has a disability.

In high school, Jackson served as a Special Olympics ambassador for two years and was involved with The Unified Champion Schools. This allowed him to make a positive difference for his brother and peers with disabilities by creating a documentary, being involved with multiple national conferences and most importantly an advocate for all on the national level. When Jackson enrolled at the University of Texas San Antonio, he joined Pi Kappa Phi as a natural fit because of our commitment to people with disabilities.

As the Iota Beta philanthropy chair, Jackson helped raise funds and awareness for The Ability Experience’s mission. Showcasing his commitment, he was later selected to join the 2023 Journey of Hope North team, where he was a fantastic team member. Through his advocacy and fundraising efforts, Jackson became one of the top fundraisers.

As a rising Junior, Jackson draws on his personal experiences and involvement to provide meaningful perspectives as the student representative. His firsthand knowledge and understanding of The Ability Experience programs will allow him to contribute to advancing the organization’s goals. Jackson is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities, and I look forward to his contributions in this role.
